Dr. Steve L. Koo was born and raised in Houston, Texas after his parents emigrated from South Korea. After attending The University of Texas, Dr. Koo graduated (with honors) with a degree in Chemical Engineering. He then attended Texas A & M University and obtained a Master’s in Chemical Engineering. Dr. Koo then received his Doctor of Dental Surgery in 1999 from the University of Texas Health Science Center.
He went on to pursue a residency in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the University of Texas Houston dental program. Dr. Steve Koo graduated in 2007 and joined Dr. Thomas Weil as a partner to form Piney Point Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.
Dr. Koo is a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, a Fellow of the American College of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and Chief of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Memorial Hermann at Memorial City. Dr. Koo is also an active member of the American Dental Association, a board member of the Greater Houston Dental Society, a Texas Dental Association delegate, and serves on the Advisory Council for the U.T. Health Science Center Dental School. Dr. Koo is also an active staff member at Memorial Hermann Hospital and West Houston Hospital.
Dr. Koo was voted Texas Super Dentist in 2015 and Top Dentists in the Houston Monthly and Houstonia 2015 magazines. He has a special interest in dental implants, orthognathic surgery, pathology, cleft palate, and cosmetic surgery.
